Mechanical safety(machinerichtlijn/arbeidsmiddelenrichtlijn)

According to the ‘Arbeidsmiddelenrichtlijn’ (directive and part of the
‘Arbeidsomstandighedenbesluit’) the choice of (new) machinery or apparatus must
not only be based on suitability but also on hazards that the use of regarding equipment
brings forth.

This also applies to machinery that meet with the terms stated in directive 98/37/EG and directive
2006/42/EG. Article 5 of the Arbeidsomstandighedenwet dictates a risk inventerisation&evaluation which
maps the dangers and risks that these machines (potentially) contain. A safety strategy can offer a systematic approach by carrying out this inventory and evaluation. The safety strategy demonstrates:

  1. In the first place dangerous situations have to be prevented by handing out equipment that creates no safety- or health- hazards;
  2. When this isn’t possible, equipment which limit the potential hazard as much as reasonably acceptable should been chosen. Additional measures are taken to prevent hazards that can’t be excluded;
  3. Employees should be informed about the hazards that using the equipment brings forth and are offered the opportunity to follow a complementary course. Also protective equipment is arranged for them.

In the case of particular groups of employees, such as disableds or minors are operative within the undertaking, special notion has to been taken whilst taking these measures. HSE-advies is represented by experts which have a wide an diverging knowledge of risk identification and –evaluation based on the ‘Arbeidsomstandighedenbesluit’ and the ‘Machinerichtlijn’ and can consult you in a professional way while carrying out a risk identification and –evaluation. the persons who carry out these activities for HSE-advies are certified according to the ‘Arbeidsomstandighedenwet’ to perform this risk analysis.
